December Mantel of the Month
I knew that I wanted to use fresh eucalyptus and lots of candles for my holiday mantel, so I took a drive to my favorite florist/gardening center and six generous stems did the trick!  I'll have to find some water tubes asap or dismantle my mantel and place them in fresh water very soon.  Of course, what's decorating a new mantel without a trip to the attic of the beach cottage to forage around up there?  Down came the mercury candle holders, stone sheep and pretty lantern that I've never used.  Have I told you about the Pottery Barn lace candle holder that I found at a flea market yet?  The lace inserts are between glass and it's one of my favorite pieces now.  It's simply beautiful and inspires the Jeanne d'Arc style that I've been loving.  The stone sheep sits upon a stack of vintage French books and I've wrapped two beautiful gray boxes with metallic ribbon and hung a vintage ornament for a touch sparkle.  Even my religious silver crown holds a tea light.  So, this month, I've spent $18.00 on fresh eucalyptus and I have a beautiful holiday mantel.  Everything else I've already had.
A crackling fire in the fireplace, some holiday tunes, a cup of cheer and I've already begun celebrating!
Happy and Blessed Holidays Everyone! xo
