October Mantel 2009

What could be better than decorating with PeeGee Hydrangeas and vintage wicker wine jugs in October?  The colors and textures are so beautiful together and the addition of my all time favorite 'untouched' framed mirror makes for the perfect backdrop here.
To read more about the PeeGees and where I 'found' them, go to my blog.
I'm not one for collections, but I will be seeking more of these wicker jugs out in my travels.  I'm hooked.  The smaller one is available, but I'll enjoy it until you scoop it up for your own vignettes.  They look so beautiful with English ironstone and my newest acquisition, tattered vintage French books from a trip to The Red Chair in New Hampshire this past weekend.  I'll be telling more of this wonderful shop filled with French grain sacks, luscious linens from Belgium, ironstone and more in my next blog.
The colors and textures on this autumn mantel make for a warm and inviting entrance into my home and the found birdnest with two sparkling eggs were placed at the last moment before snapping the picture.
We've been doing 'Mantels' for five years now (that's almost 60 mantels friends!) and I'm tossing around another idea.  Something like 'Fabulous Finds' or 'Style Watch' in the decorating scene.  I'm still mulling it over so I'm open for ideas.  Let me know what you think...
Happy Leaf Peeping!
