October Mantel

October Mantel.jpg

Inspiration for this autumn mantel?  The beautiful luncheon dishes with colors of deep orange and black!  I would have never thought of purchasing these dishes except that I loved the black accents.  The swirly paisley pattern in gold makes these so lovely for a fall mantel!  I usually create my monthly mantels using one new item and beautiful things from around my home.

A favorite, the vintage gold mirror is placed off center to feature the taller wire display filled with mini white pumpkins. Look closely at the white gourd that resembles a graceful swan!  I then remembered a swan vase high up on a shelf to add some sweetness to the vignette.  Foraging for color, I plucked two big, luscious hydrangea heads from the garden and accented those with a beautiful claret satin ribbon found.  The mini white pumpkin pops when placed on the richly colored ribbon.  I cherish the crackled mercury heart that a dear friend gave to me.  It hangs on the mirror from black ribbon.  Faux bittersweet vines add wispiness to the vignette swirling around the candle holder and mirror.  VoilĂ !  A candle holder on each end and my autumn mantel is ready to enjoy.  When I walk in the front door it warmly greets me!

Creating a new mantel every month gets the creative juices flowing!!!  Gather some favorite items from all around the house and garden and have some fun!!!  It's a satisfying way to spend a delightful autumn afternoon!
