mantel of the month

Just as soon as the holidays were over I gathered up some of my favorite treasures with roses and created a romantic mantel for the Month of February. I love to layer vintage linens and creating height with books and easels makes it all very charming. Easels are wonderful for displaying plates, books, framed pictures and unframed paintings! The set of four plates feature roses in various stages of bloom (Martha has the other four) and the Madonna I found at a church bazaar and painted ivory. My Christie Repasy leans against a mirror and is framed in a beautiful yard sale find that Martha tells everyone was a 'birthday gift from God'. A perfect fit and I found it on my birthday in June! Whatever you do, don't pass up these 'plastic' frames. They're fabulous painted and no one will ever know! I like to place tealites in my pretty teacups and enjoy the soft glowing roses. Mantels have so many decorating possibilities and even if you don't have a fireplace, you can always have a mantel!
