mantel of the month

January Mantel

Whew! The holidays have been wonderful, but I've tweaked my mantel just a bit! The beautiful hydrangea are from a bountiful bush in my daughter's yard in Oregon. I literally packed an 'old fashioned' hard sided suitcase full when I visited in the fall, brought them home and have decorated with them ever since! The colors are fabulous and work so well with my purple and teal decor. Layer upon layer of mirrors, linens, beads and china abound. Of course there's an easel to present a wonderful gift with my initial on the envelope from Martha. She tucked an unbelievable scrapbook in it that she made for me. That will be on a future mantel I'm sure! Oh, the vintage teapot and creamer are from her as well from a bygone birthday. Some of my all time favorite treasures are from her as you can see. The love birds make their way around the house, sometimes useful as bookends, and the chocolate pot was a flea market find with its purple berries. The gorgeous handmade vase was found on a jaunt to New Hampshire with my other daughter from which I have many happy memories. I may add some purple beaded garland on the mirrors for a little pizazz. They are as addictive as bobeches to me now. Well, it's time to relax a bit and savor all of the wonderful blessings from the year past and create new memories in the year ahead. Happy New Year Hugs all around!
